The Gift Of Being Yourself

The gift of being yourself

How to grow

A king was walking through his gardens when he discovered that his trees,  shrubs and flowers were dying.

Oak told him he was dying because he could never be as tall as pine. When he passed the pine tree, the latter found it felled because he could not have grapes like the vine. The vine, on the other hand, was dying because it could not have flowers like the rose. The rose was crying because it was not as big and strong as the oak.

Then, at the bottom of one of his gardens, the king discovered a plant, a flowering strawberry as fresh as the morning dew.

So the king asked him:  how is it possible that you are growing so healthily in the middle of this dark and withered garden?

I do not know. Maybe it’s because I’ve always believed that if you planted me, it’s because you wanted a strawberry plant. If you had wanted an oak tree or a rose bush, you would have planted them in my place. That’s when I said to myself: “I’m going to do everything to be the best strawberry possible”.

Now it’s your turn. You are here to contribute to this world with all that you have to contribute. Just look at yourself in a mirror, you are who you are, you will never be someone else.

So, blossom and blossom, watering your love for yourself, or you will slowly wither …

The best version of yourself

Albert Einstein once  said: “ Everyone is a genius. However, if you judge a fish by its tree climbing ability, it will spend its life believing it to be stupid .

Who are you really?

From our earliest childhood, we are taught to judge ourselves by taking into account the qualities and opinions of those around us. However, if we spend our time comparing ourselves to others, it will be difficult for us to truly know ourselves.

This is why we must observe ourselves carefully in front of a mirror, and seek all the  potential that we so often hide under layers of fears and habits.

Continually comparing ourselves is usually not a good formula for having good self-esteem, and it can even lead us to develop a distorted view of ourselves.

Just as they can have a negative aspect, comparisons can also have a positive aspect, such as being able to realize that there is a wide variety of ways of thinking, acting and feeling things.

It is not about being like others, to be more successful than others, to be more competent or funnier, but to take advantage of our qualities, our talent, and our originality.

No one is a carbon copy of another because we are all different. No one has lived your experiences the same way you have, since each person has their own story.

This is why when we compare ourselves to others, we are comparing different things, taking into account only one characteristic or perspective. So, we must seize the opportunity to be ourselves, because it is very precious.

We all have dozens of characteristics that are unique to us, some that make our life easier, while others can complicate things at times, but together they contribute to our uniqueness.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to change some aspects of ourselves that we don’t like, because there is nothing wrong with that. However, it should always be kept in mind that real change comes from self-acceptance, not rejection.

Learning to esteem ourselves, to love ourselves, to accept ourselves is a laborious journey that continues throughout our life. Additionally, this trail requires a fair amount of motivation and persistence.

Getting to know ourselves is part of a long process of self-discovery that will make us feel more comfortable in our own skin, aside from being one of the most emotional journeys we will ever take.

Let’s be the best version of ourselves every day  !
